Do we learn everything we need at school?

What do you wish that you would have known when you got married....your health...your finances...how to cook...how to effectively serve others...how to be a a productive member of a community?

I know, even though I'm still young and inexperienced, that I have stumbled around with all of these things and am still trying to master them because my "education" never really covered them. I did learn some from my family...although looking back there was never a focused, deliberate "teaching" or mentoring on these things.

One of the reasons we are homeschooling is to effectively and deliberately "teach" these things to Avery. The goal is to create a productive citizen who can function exceedingly well at life, all while operating under a biblical world view (more on that next). So while the Academics are 1/2 of what is important at our school, these other "practical" skills are equally important. Even though we say we "homeschool" for about 2 hours 5 days a week...we are actually homeschooling every waking hour we are together with him (which is most of the time). And what's great, is while we are learning we are bonding :)
