Chemistry - measuring pH

Grampa John sent a chemistry set, and we can hardly keep his hands off it. We've gotten to do one experiment so far - measuring the pH of liquids. We learned about litmus paper, and what pH is. We measured 8 different liquids and found out that our drinking water has about the same pH of vinegar - ew? Lemon juice won the acidity prize, and baking soda won the basic prize.

Grampa also sent a microscope...we're still trying to learn that you can't put entire bugs under the microscope, but we're using the magnifying glass that came with it to look at our bugs. It came with some great prepared slides and we love looking at those. He's more careful with things than most little kids, so surprisingly all this big kid science is right up his alley.

WOW. Thanks grampa!!
